This privacy policy explains how the Diversity for Restoration mobile app (“the app”, “we”) handles information when you use it. The app is a free tool that recommends tree species for restoration projects based on the location and preferences you provide.
Data we collect
- Location (precise or approximate): if you grant permission, we use your device’s GPS to center the map on your area. The coordinates (latitude/longitude) of the restoration site you select are sent to our server to generate the report and to determine the corresponding country. You may decline the permission and enter the coordinates manually instead.
- Contact details (only if you use the contact form): name, last name, email address, phone number and the message you write. This data is only collected when you choose to send us a message.
- Report preferences: your selections in the form (restoration objectives, site conditions, species, climate scenario, language). These do not include data that personally identifies you.
We do not collect financial or health information, photos, contacts, or advertising identifiers. The app contains no third-party analytics, tracking or advertising tools.
How we use the data
- To generate the species recommendation report for the selected location.
- To determine the country/region of the selected point so the correct options are shown.
- To reply to your message when you use the contact form.
Who we share data with
- Google Maps Platform (Geocoding API): the selected coordinates are sent to Google to convert them into the corresponding country. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Our server (diversityforrestoration.org): receives the coordinates and form preferences to generate the report, and the contact form data.
- Brevo (Sendinblue): email delivery provider that processes contact-form messages on our behalf.
We do not sell your data or share it with third parties for advertising purposes.
Retention and security
All communication between the app and our services is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. The history of generated reports is stored only on your device (you can clear it from the app). We keep contact data only as long as needed to handle your request.
Your rights and data deletion
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal data you have sent us through our contact form. You can delete the locally stored report history at any time from within the app.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the current version on this page along with its update date.
